Annabelle is a versatile singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose latest release, Rise, was nominated for a 2013 Juno Award for Best Roots and Traditional Album of the Year, and a 2013 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Album of the Year. Where her 2008 release Resilience, also nominated for a CFMA Award, was a plaintive album that showcased Annabelle’s originality in contemplating matters of the heart, Rise is a rousing celebration of grassroots uprisings in Canada and around the world, complete with a “peoples’ chorus” and a cover of Peter Tosh’s Equal Rights. It is joyful, anthemic, and unabashedly political, revealing her passion for social justice work and musical activism. Annabelle has also co-written and performed songs with Bruce Cockburn on his Juno-winning Small Source of Comfort album, and was once a member of the Wailin’ Jennys, with whom she released their Juno-nominated album Firecracker.

This summer, in a session at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Cayley sang a heartfelt tribute to her late brother to earn a mid-set standing ovation.  This 22 year old sounds like the muddy Mississippi came west on the North Saskatchewan whitewater. Raised on the riverbanks of Edmonton, Cayley is at home singing the blues of long winter nights, the jazz of orange prairie mornings and the folk of everyday life.  Her truest love is sharing her songs and her heart with listening audiences.  Her honesty, humour and vulnerability will take you on an inspirational journey you won’t soon forget.

Tickets for our winter 2014 concerts will go on sale on December 13.
