Our next Nick concert on March 7, featuring Dala with opening act, Roger Helfrick is now sold out!

*** Sometimes patrons purchase tickets they are unable to use and these may become available at the door on the night of the concert. All Nick concerts are held at the Crescent Heights Community Hall, 1101 2nd St. N.W. Doors open at 7:00 and showtime is 7:30.

$30 Advance tickets for our final two 2020 concerts are on sale NOW via  Brown Paper Tickets.

Advance ticket holders are reminded that any season ticket holders who arrive at the Crescent Heights Hall before 7:00 are given preferential admission.

Juno nominees and winner of the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award for Vocal Group of the Year, Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine of Dala write and sing in harmony best described as angelic. Drawing upon influences like The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Bob Dylan, Dala write songs that are both catchy and insightful. Their album, Best Day, earned Canadian Folk Music Award nominations for English Songwriter of the Year and Vocal Group of theYear. The sheer joy with which they perform is infectious, turning first-time listeners into instant fans. Dala are equally entertaining between songs, telling funny and down to earth stories that make every show unique. Dala have opened for artists such as Tom Cochrane, Stuart McLean of the CBC’s Vinyl Café, Richie Havens and Arlo Guthrie. They have also performed at The New Orleans Jazz Festival, The Edmonton Folk Festival, California’s StrawberryFestival and Mariposa.

Roger Helfrick

Roger purchased his first harp in 1993 and taught himself to play. He has performed with many ensembles including the Calgary Opera Chorus, the Calgary Renaissance Singers and Players, and from 2012–2014 was the lead vocalist for Winter Harp. His expansive repertoire has included ancient Greek, medieval, and Renaissance sources, as well as folk music from Japan, Germany, Norway, Iceland, the British Isles and Ireland. Roger now lives in Edmonton and is working more with improvisation and intuition to create new works that deal with the passing of the seasons, love, joy, silence and living in the present.
