Mighty Popo is a Rwandan/Burundian refugee/survivor and a member of the 2004 Juno Award winning African Guitar Summit. In Gakondo Popo traces his own family origins, while working within the traditions of original Rwandan music. Popo has inherited a love of the traditional music of Rwanda and Burundi but he also has a lifelong connection with rock and roll, blues, jazz, R&B, Reggae and folk traditions. For his Nickelodeon concert, Popo will be joined by Kofi Ackah on percussion and Aron Niyitunga on lead guitar.
