Canadian folk trio Trent Severn sing contemporary songs about our nation’s people and places with humour, humanity and heart. Their trademark vocal blend and stripped down approach to modern life in Canada has landed hundreds of festival and series appearances and the honour of singing an original arrangement of Oh Canada on Parliament Hill for the Canada Day flag-raising. Comprised of Dayna Manning (guitar/banjo), Emm Gryner (bass), and Lindsay Schindler ( fiddle), Trent Severn is a two-time Canadian Folk Music Award nominated group, and the members have four Juno nominations among them. They are known for their collaborations with musicians and non-musicians alike, including the RCAF Snowbirds, The Rheostatics, and Wiarton Willie to name a few. They are lucky enough to count Astronaut Chris Hadfield and legendary Guess Who frontman Burton Cummings as fans. Trent Severn can’t help but connect people and lift them up in the process.
Mark Perry has just released his 11th album, Right Here. Born in Smithers BC, his music and stories take you on a journey through his love of rural Canada; from the triumphs of playing hockey on frozen lakes, to the excitement of a spring thaw when rivers rise and bluebirds return and you’re finally pedaling your bike again. He also tells the tougher stories of our collective past & present: the legacy of our Japanese internment camps, the sinking of a passenger ferry in the middle of the night, or the tragedy of First Nations people who go missing from our communities.

Jack Semple is one of those rare guitar players who leaves a crowd speechless. Listening
to and watching Jack play fills one with a sense of having witnessed an event in time, one not soon to be forgotten. Jack Semple is an absolute virtuoso of his art form, playing with unparalleled feeling and total technical control. His solo recording career has resulted in the release of ten albums. He has been twice nominated for a Gemini Award for his soundtrack work on the television series Incredible Story Studio. Semple won a Juno award in 1991 for best roots recording and two Western Canadian music awards for Qu’Appelle and In the Blue Light. His music is like Stevie Ray Vaughn meets James Brown meets Robben Ford. He was selected for the rst round Grammy Award ballot of the 2017 Contemporary Blues Album for his recording Live at Mt. Baker R&B Festival.
Maddie spent her youth traveling and playing music in bars and hostels, from Toronto to Thailand, Amsterdam to South Africa. She has released her debut LP The Old Brag of My Heart. With striking nuance and depth in her poignant lyricism, emotive finger picking, and a honeyed, impassioned voice, she seeks to tell us a story, to move us, and to touch a fragile part of the human spirit. The Edmonton Folk Festival wrote: “the clarity of Maddie’s voice could very well be drifting out of a Greenwich Village folk club in the early 60s. Maddie’s songs are political and deeply empathetic.”
