September 30 – soundcheck photos

We had a wonderful start to our 43rd season last night. Openers Flint and Feather offered delightful harmonies, showcasing original songs from their upcoming album. Lizzy Hoyt’s spectacular vocals on songs both traditional and original, featured lovely accompaniment on guitar, fiddle and harp. Lizzy was ably backed by Keith Rempel on stand up bass and back up vocals and Jared Albright on mandolin, guitar and fiddle. Lizzy got the crowd singing along several times and easily earned a standing ovation and encore.

Flint and Feather

Flint & Feather is the musical project of Joal and Lauren Kamps.  Joal, who served as Alberta’s Artist in Residence and Arts Ambassador from 2020-2021, and Lauren draw upon Western Canadian history, Rocky Mountain folklore, and their own colourful life journeys for inspiration, the result being original songs that convey stories with an uncommon charm.

Listen to CKUA’s Discoveries with Leo Cripps Thursday morning for an interview with Flint and Feather.

Concerts are held at the Crescent Heights Community Hall, 1101 2nd St. N.W. Ample free parking is available. Doors are 7:00, showtime is 7:30.
