Jack Semple is one of those rare guitar players who leaves a crowd speechless. Listening
to and watching Jack play fills one with a sense of having witnessed an event in time, one not soon to be forgotten. Jack Semple is an absolute virtuoso of his art form, playing with unparalleled feeling and total technical control. His solo recording career has resulted in the release of ten albums. He has been twice nominated for a Gemini Award for his soundtrack work on the television series Incredible Story Studio. Semple won a Juno award in 1991 for best roots recording and two Western Canadian music awards for Qu’Appelle and In the Blue Light. His music is like Stevie Ray Vaughn meets James Brown meets Robben Ford. He was selected for the rst round Grammy Award ballot of the 2017 Contemporary Blues Album for his recording Live at Mt. Baker R&B Festival.
Maddie spent her youth traveling and playing music in bars and hostels, from Toronto to Thailand, Amsterdam to South Africa. She has released her debut LP The Old Brag of My Heart. With striking nuance and depth in her poignant lyricism, emotive finger picking, and a honeyed, impassioned voice, she seeks to tell us a story, to move us, and to touch a fragile part of the human spirit. The Edmonton Folk Festival wrote: “the clarity of Maddie’s voice could very well be drifting out of a Greenwich Village folk club in the early 60s. Maddie’s songs are political and deeply empathetic.”
